ISWI Newsletter - Vol.2 No.50 26 June 2010
Dear ISWI Participant:
I recently received the following message (in blue) from
Dr Hans Haubold of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna; I would like to share it with you.
Dear George,
Most of the time we are looking at Space Weather as an issue of
scientific research based on space-borne and ground-based observational data.
Recently, SWEF published the attached booklet on SWEF2010. The booklet shows
interestingly socio-economic aspects of Space Weather and its possible impact
on society. This will play a greater role in future developments of ISWI and
seems to be of great interest to member States worldwide as all of us depend
more and more on satellite systems in outer space, particularly GNSS and
communications satellites. Solar-terrestrial interaction, particularly solar
activity, is important for such satellite systems. A nice demonstration of
the link between inner space and outer space.
May be you can distribute the attached booklet through the ISWI Newsletter.
Thanks,
Hans
The aforementioned booklet is attached, with an introductory cover sheet.
I would like to remind you that the ISWI website has been considerably upgraded. Please have a look at it when you have the chance. If you think ISWI is important, please put a web link on your research project's website to [ www.iswi-secretariat.org ] --- and, of course, make use of the ISWI official logo !

Most humbly yours,
George Maeda
