ISWI Newsletter - Vol.2 No.82 24 October 2010
Dear ISWI Participant:
The following information comes from Dr Hans Haubold.
The UNBSSI comprises annual workshops on BSS (1991-2004), IHY (2005-2009), and ISWI (2010-2012 and beyond). Each individual workshop in the UNBSSI
has produced short-term and long-term follow-up projects (results). Most prominently we refer to planetariums, astronomical telescope facilities, and space weather instrument arrays.
Currently, the Russian Federation (Russian Academy of Sciences) is exploring the possibility to make available the International
Scientific Optical Network (ISON), consisting of optical telescopes , to be part of UNBSSI as pursued particularle in the BSS workshops.
The follow-up result of the 1996 BSS Workshop (Bonn, Germany) was the establishment of "The Working Group on Space Sciences in Africa". This WG, since 1997, publishes an annual Newsletter titled "African Skies" in English and French languages. All issues are electronically available at http://www.saao.ac.za/~wgssa/archive.php
