[3] The European Space Weather Week (ESWW) 3 medals that will be presented during it

Dear colleagues,

The European Space Weather Week (ESWW) is the European forum for Space Weather users, forecasters, scientists and the involved industries, as proven by the high attendance to the ESWW 11 in November 2014.

The ESWW 12 will be held in Ostend, Belgium, November, 23-27, 2015 and its organisation has already started and is benefitting from the experience and inputs from the past editions.

Hence, to get a rich and varied meeting programme that spans all the aspects of Space Weather, from the observations and underpinning science to the operational models and industrial challenges, we will invite you to submit proposals for sessions that are relevant to this framework.

Web-site http://www.stce.be/esww12/index.php

Dear colleagues,

In 2013, a set of three medals in Space Weather have been created at the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the European Space Weather Week. These medals are becoming more and more highly valued.

The medals will be given during the next European Space Weather Week (November 23-27, 2015, Belgium, http://www.stce.be/esww12/index.php). There are three medals: The Kristian Birkeland medal for scientific or technological results, the Marcel Nicolet medal for efforts to structure the space weather community and the Alexander Chizhevsky medal to reward a young researcher.

Please, find all the informations for applications at http://www.stce.be/esww12/medals.php Send your documents by email only to SWmedals[at]oma.be. The deadline for the applications is September, 13th 2015.

Petra Vanlommel,
on behalf of Jean Lilensten,
chair of the medal committee.

[4] International Chapman Conference on Currents in Geospace and Beyond, Dubrovnik, Croatia, May 22 - 27, 2016

From:
Andreas Keiling (UC Berkeley, USA), and
Octav Marghitu
(Institute for Space Sciences, Romania)
Abstract submission opening: 16 November 2015
Abstract submission closing: 18 January 2016
Conference website: chapman.agu.org/spacecurrents/

Electric currents are fundamental to the structure and dynamics of space plasmas. In the last decade, significant advances have been made in our understanding of fundamental processes related to such currents. To build up a comprehensive picture, this international Chapman Conference will address electric currents in various space plasmas, including:

Thus, the conference will provide a forum in which different space science communities can come together to discuss recent achievements of observational, theoretical, and modeling studies. The emphasis will be on cross-disciplinary science sessions, covering topics such as:

Those with an interest in electric currents in space plasmas are encouraged to attend. Further information about the science program committee, the conference theme and the venue can be found at the conference website: http://chapman.agu.org/spacecurrents/

A high-resolution conference poster (pdf) is available for download.

[5] ICG Experts Meeting: Global Navigation Satellite Systems Services, Vienna, Austria, 14 - 18 December 2015

Dear George,

I would be very grateful if the following invitation and announcement could be distributed in the forthcoming issue.

Many thanks, and best regards,
Shafa
Sharafat Gadimova, (Ms.)
Office for Outer Space Affairs
United Nations Office at Vienna
Tel (Office) ++43-(1)-26060-5479
FAX (Office) ++43-(1)-26060-5830
E-Mail sharafat.gadimova[at]unvienna.org

We would like to inform you that the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, as the Executive Secretariat of the International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ICG), is carrying out the ICG activities as part of the ICG workplan through its programme on global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) applications. In order to increase knowledge and expertise relating to GNSS capabilities and its benefits to the GNSS user community worldwide, the ICG Experts Meeting: Global Navigation Satellite Systems Services will be held in Vienna, Austria from 14 through 18 December 2015. In this meeting, ICG will introduce the scope of its work, aiming at contribution to international cooperation by providing an opportunity to exchange updated information on the use of GNSS technology and its applications.

A one-day and half seminar will be held during the ICG Experts Meeting. This seminar will introduce spectrum management and the mitigation of radio frequency interference, collectively referred to here as spectrum protection, for radionavigation satellite services (RNSS). The seminar will be conducted in coordination with the ICG Working Group on Compatibility and Interoperability. The topics of the seminar will be built from the spectrum experience gained from the development, operation, and use of RNSS. The aspects of RNSS spectrum protection to be addressed include regulatory, technical, operational, and policy. The Experts Meeting will provide ample time for discussion open to all participants, and networking opportunities, as well as to address in-depth questions and answers on specific topics unique to a particular region. The latest information on this Meeting and its relevant documentation, including the useful information for participants will be available at the ICG Information Portal at:
http://www.unoosa.org/oosa/en/ourwork/icg/activities.html

On behalf of the ICG, it is our pleasure to extend this invitation, through you, to the Government to nominate highly qualified individuals to participate at and contribute to this Experts Meeting. Nominees should meet the criteria set out in the Announcement. The co-sponsors will provide funding to subsidise the participation of a limited number of experts from developing countries. We would be grateful if you could forward the enclosed documents to the appropriate governmental, academic, research and other relevant institutions/organizations in your country. Kindly note that the registration deadline is 10 September 2015 for a financial support from the ICG.

The on-line registration form is available at the website:
