[2] 2016 International Sunanda and Santimay Basu Early Career Award

I would like to invite you to submit nominations for the 2016 International Sunanda and Santimay Basu Early Career Award.
The deadline for nominations is April 15, 2016.

Established in 2008, the Sunanda and Santimay Basu Early Career Award in Sun-Earth Systems Science is given annually to one early career scientist (within seven years of the award of Ph.D. or highest equivalent terminal degree) from a developing nation in recognition of outstanding contributions to research in Sun-Earth systems science that further the understanding of both plasma physical processes and their applications for the benefit of society.

Eligible nominees (1) have been awarded the degree of Ph.D. (or highest equivalent terminal degree) have completed their degree requirements during the seven-year time period prior to the award presentation year (1 January 2009 - 31 December 2015); and (2) currently live and work in developing nations. Consideration is to be given to nominees who have overcome obstacles in attaining their research objectives.

The award includes:

• Travel support (airfare and housing) to attend the AGU Fall Meeting for the length of his/her stay during the award presentation year
• Complimentary meeting registration to participate in the AGU Fall Meeting during the award presentation year
• Three years of complimentary AGU membership
• Award certificate
• Announcement in Eos
• Invitation to present a talk at the AGU Fall Meeting during the award presentation year
• Recognition at the AGU Fall Meeting during the award presentation year
• Complimentary ticket to the Space Physics and Aeronomy section dinner at the AGU Fall Meeting during the award presentation year

[3] 6th IAGA/ICMA/SCOSTEP Workshop on Vertical Coupling in the Atmosphere-Ionosphere System, Taipei Taiwan, July 25–29, 2016

We would like to invite you to the 6th IAGA/ICMA/SCOSTEP Workshop on Vertical Coupling in the Atmosphere-Ionosphere System, to be held in Taipei Taiwan from July 25–29, 2016.

We encourage abstracts related to all aspects of atmosphere - ionosphere coupling, including lower atmospheric wave and tidal sources, wave and tidal propagation through the middle and upper atmosphere, as well as mechanisms and variability in the mesosphere, thermosphere, and ionosphere system due to their effects. Abstracts related to the ongoing VarSITI ROSMIC project, as well as potential manifestations of ENSO signatures in the middle and upper atmosphere, as well as the ionosphere are particularly encouraged.

[4] Professor Christine Amory Mazaudier wins International Marcel Nicolet Medal for Space Weather and Space Climate 2015

We, at the African Geophysical Society, heartily rejoice with you on the award of the International Marcel Nicolet Medal for Space Weather and Space Climate 2015 to you by the International Space Weather and Space Climate Committee at Oostende, Belgium, 23rd November 2015.

[5] SCOSTEP/ISWI International School on Space Science,
November 7–10, 2016, Sangli, Maharashtra, India

The SCOSTEP/ISWI International School on Space Science will be held at the Smt. Kasturbai Walchand College of Science & Arts, Sangli, India during November 7 to 17, 2016. The school will be an excellent learning and enrichment opportunity for graduate students. The school is aimed at students who are perusing PhD in solar terrestrial physics and space science. Some masters students who have already some exposures in solar/space physics may also apply. Some financial assistance will be provided to students and scientists attending the school. Indian students will be reimbursed with train fare from their home institution. Total number of students to be selected 40 (from India) + 20 international. All selected students will be provided with local hospitality. The School is primarily sponsored by the Scientific Committee on SolarЃ]Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP) and the International Space Weather Initiative (ISWI). There are also coЃ]sponsors from many institutions in India and Japan.
