ISWI Newsletter - Vol.8 No.15
27 August 2016

Dear ISWI Participant:

Both items in this issue are UN related. First, the UN workshop in Nepal is mentioned.

Secondly, in this issue WSW (World Space Week) is mentioned. If you can, please get involved! Visit their website and check out the huge number countries that have registered with WSW to conduct WSW activities.

For the first time, Japan will also do WSW, here in Kitakyushu. The organizer is Mr Tejumola Taiwo Raphael, a Nigerian grad student at Kyushu Institute of Technology, Tobata Campus. He is getting a lot people excited about it. No doubt we will get a report from him later.

[2] World Space Week

Since its United Nations declaration in 1999, World Space Week has grown into the largest public space event on Earth. More than 1,800 events in 73 countries celebrated the benefits of space and excitement about space exploration in 2015. With our new Theme “Remote Sensing - Enabling Our Future” we aim to inspire even more events around the world in October 2016.

“The General Assembly declares 4 to 10 October World Space Week to celebrate each year at the international level the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.”

UN General Assembly resolution, 6 December 1999
