[3] Call for Nominations: International SPACE WEATHER MEDALS

Dear colleagues,

We are happy to announce the 2017 contest for the international space weather medals. The new medal recipients will be announced in a medal ceremony at the European Space Weather Week, the 27th of November, 2017.

All three prizes are prestigious recognitions of recipients' major contributions in the field of space weather. Medal recipient's work must have been documented in peer review journals or book chapters, or must be a technological contribution that has led to a fully implemented new space weather capability. Medal recipient's work must be relevant to space weather and/or space climate. The work must also be internationally recognized.

Sincerely yours J. Lilensten,
on behalf of the ESWW Medal Committee

[4] Space Weather Effects in the Ionosphere and Thermosphere: Advances in Monitoring, Modeling and Mitigation Techniques

Dear colleagues,

The Fourteenth European Space Weather Week will take place in Belgium, Nov 27÷Dec 1, 2017

We encourage you to submit a contribution before the 10th of May to the session:

Space Weather Effects in the Ionosphere and Thermosphere:
Advances in Monitoring, Modeling and Mitigation Techniques

held on Thursday 30/11, 9:45 - 13:00

Abstract:
The session aims at exploring recent advances in ionosphere-thermosphere measurement techniques (in situ and remote sensing), in modeling, nowcasting and forecasting under all possible space weather conditions, from quiet to extremely disturbed. Emphasis will be given on new space weather products and services derived with the above techniques, including indices and proxies to support communication, navigation, positioning systems, satellites’ orbitography and mitigation technologies

Please connect to https://register-as.oma.be/esww14/abstract.php to submit your contribution.

Regards,
Jean Lilensten,
Anna Belehaki
