[1] Important message from "Sun and Geosphere" journal
Dear ISWI Community,A special issue of the online journal Sun and Geosphere (http://www.sungeosphere.org/) is being planned to publish the papers presented at the UN/US ISWI Workshop held on July 31÷Aug. 4, 2017 at Boston College, Chestnut Hill MA, USA.
In order to offer an opportunity to the wider ISWI community to contribute to the workshop, the ISWI community is hereby invited to submit workshop-relevant papers for publication in the special issue. To that end, original articles addressing any of the following topics will be considered:
1) International recognition of space weather risks;
2) Building on today’s space weather foundation;
3) Developing an international framework for space weather services;
4) Scientific results on the interplanetary medium, geospace, the ionosphere and thermosphere;
5) Space weather instruments;
6) Space Weather Modeling:
(1) From Sun to Geospace and
(2) Radiation and Plasma Environment;
7) Extreme space weather; and
8) Coordination of Space- and Ground-Based Data Resources.
All contributed papers will be published after peer reviewed. Manuscripts will be limited to 6 journal pages. Deadline for submission is December 31, 2017. Publication is scheduled tentatively for August 2018.

[2] 3-year Postdoc Position in Heliophysics at FHNW, Switzerland
The Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (FHNW) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in Heliophysics to work on the project “A new perspective on particle acceleration on the Sun: Solar Flare radio observations with the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array”, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.
FHNW hosts a lively group of solar researchers and engineers. The group’s research focus is on high energy heliophysics with emphasis on multi-wavelength observations and modeling of solar eruptions and their effects on the solar atmosphere. The institute is the PI institution of the STIX X-ray telescope to be flown onboard ESA’s Solar Orbiter mission and is also involved in cubesat projects.
The successful candidate will work on the analysis and interpretation of solar flare related radio-bursts observed with the VLA, in collaboration with our project partner at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, NJ, with the possibility of getting involved in STIX science and operations planning.
Applicants are expected to have a PhD in physics or astrophysics, preferably in the area of solar physics, awarded no longer than two years prior to the anticipated starting date. Experience in the analysis of radio interferometry data and the use of the CASA analysis package is desired.
The selection of candidates will start after November 1, 2017 and continue until the position is filled. The starting date is negotiable, preferably around May 1, 2018. The position is for a term of 3 years. The salary and benefits are according to the rules of SNF and the collective employment agreement of FHNW.

[3] First Announcement: 15th International Symposium on Equatorial Aeronomy (ISEA-15) during 22÷26 October 2018 at Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, India

The International Symposium on Equatorial Aeronomy (ISEA) is held once in every three to four years. Researchers from the fields of atmosphere, ionosphere and magnetosphere gather together in ISEA to share new findings, discuss the current status, and identify topics for future research. The 15th International Symposium on Equatorial Aeronomy (ISEA-15) will be held during October 22 to 26, 2018 at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad, India.
Physical Research Laboratory is a premier research institution under the aegis of the Department of Space, Government of India, founded in 1947 by Prof. Vikram A. Sarabhai. PRL is known as the "cradle of space sciences" in India and is a leading centre of international repute in the field of equatorial aeronomy research. It is apt that PRL is chosen as the venue for ISEA-15 as 2018-2019 is the birth centenary year of Prof. Vikram A. Sarabhai, who initiated equatorial aeronomy and space research programs in India.
The city of Ahmedabad is a unique blend of heritage and modernity and is one of the fastest growing cities in India. Ahmedabad has become India? first World Heritage City as announced by The World Heritage Committee (WHC) of UNESCO in 2017. This is the city where Mahatma Gandhi established the famous Sabarmati Ashram, which was one of the important places during India's independence movement. This city boasts of internationally reputed institutions like Space Applications Centre (SAC), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), National Institute of Design (NID), Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) etc.
