Installing magnetometers in Africa can be an adventure.

To illustrate that point, please find attached the blog report by Dr. Endawoke Yizengaw (Senior Research Scientist, Institute for Scientific Research, Boston College, USA). It is reprinted here with his permission.

His Scientific Mission first went to Conakry, Guinea, then to Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. Both places are near the equator. Endawoke is the PI of the AMBER Project, which is a member of the ISWI instrument array family. (Visit www.iswi-secretariat.org and click on "Projects".)
