The text of this article was originally circulated by this newsletter in Volume 6, Number 27, earlier this year. However, it was picked up by a magazine called "Civil Engineering Surveyor", re-editted, and published in their April 2014 issue. I attach it because the formatting of the article has been improved and looks more professional than what I sent out. Also, it is truly a great article and is worth sending out again, and again, and again. It is the best article this newsletter has sent out since Volume 1, Number 1, back on 12 November 2009.

I think every ISWI instrument array PI is delighted when people taking care of his or her instrument in some distant land is able to use that instrument for either research functions or education functions, or both. Attached is a report on a MAGDAS workshop that was recently conducted in Malaysia.
It was written by a university lecturer who last year earned his Phd here at Kyushu University in the field of space physics. During his time here, he was very active in the installation and maintenance of several MAGDAS units around the world -- including Malaysia, Indonesia, Peru and Bermuda. The workshop covered by this report is truly "capacity building" in action.
Note: The original PI of the MAGDAS Project was Prof. K. Yumoto of Kyushu University. The current PI is Dr. A. Yoshikawa, of the same university.
