Greetings from Vienna !
Further to our email concerning the forthcoming United Nations/Ecuador Workshop on ISWI, we would like to draw your attention to the two attached papers. They make visible the close link between space weather (as part of the field of basic space science) and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (positioning, navigation, and timing). We pursued this link in the past workshops on International Heliophysical Year (IHY, Japan 2007, Bulgaria 2008, Republic of Korea 2009) and International Space Weather Initiative (ISWI, Egypt 2010, Nigeria 2011) and will continue to do so in the 2012 Ecuador workshop. The use of the GPS signal has facilitated the deployment of the GPS-Africa and the SCINDA instrument arrays since 2005. We would also like to kindly remind you that the deadline is approaching, Saturday, 30 June 2012 for the registration, abstract submission and application for travel support for your participation in and contribution to the UN/Ecuador Workshop on ISWI. For ease of reference the UN/Ecuador Workshop Information Note is attached herewith. Please also kindly note that on-line application form is available on the UNOOSA web site at the following address: www.oosa.unvienna.org/oosa/en/SAP/act2012/iswi/index.html For more detailed information about the activities on global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), please refer to the following website: www.icgsecretariat.org or directly at or http://www.unoosa.org/oosa/SAP/gnss/index.html Best regards, Shafa |
To attend "UN/Ecuador Workshop on ISWI" with travel support, you must submit an application before the end of this month. You must also register and submit an abstract.
Most cordially yours, George Maeda Editor of ISWI Newsletter Hakozaki Campus, Kyushu University, Japan. |
