I have been asked to make the following announcement:
FIRST ANNOUNCEMENTThe 2013 ILWS Workshop on “Space Weather Research with Space and Ground-based Observations” will be held during 24-28 June 2013 in Irkutsk, Russia. The workshop will be hosted by the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (http://en.iszf.irk.ru/). Irkutsk is the center for research activities in Eastern Siberia; it is a historical city and gateway to the world-famous lake Baikal recreation region. This will be the fifth in a series of successful and well-attended science meetings sponsored by the International Living With a Star (ILWS) program (http://ilwsonline.org). ILWS seeks global cooperation in space instrumentation for space weather studies. The purpose of this workshop is to promote the science of the connected Sun-Earth system by bringing together members of the international scientific community. The workshop will also provide an excellent opportunity to showcase the science of the hosting region (Eastern Asia). Scientific sessions will encompass all areas of the Sun-Earth system science, including observations, theory, modeling and forecast, in particular addressing the current unusual solar cycle. There will be a special emphasis on the closer integration of ground- and space-based data, and will include a discussion on the current and upcoming National and International projects relevant to Space Weather research. The workshop is open to the international space weather research community. It will include invited, contributed oral and poster presentations. Additional information about the workshop will be available at the workshop web site: http://en.iszf.irk.ru/ILWS_2013.
We look forward to seeing you in Irkutsk.
Co-chairs:
