ISWI Newsletter - Vol.4 No.121
12 December 2012

Dear ISWI Participant:

The logo contest (first announced in Vol. 4, Num. 68) that was conducted this year to find a logo for the newly established "International Center for Space Weather Science and Education" has a winner. He is Mr Yusuke Miyamoto of Japan; he will receive the top prize in the near future. The winning logo is attached as pdf. Congratulations Mr Miyamoto!

The selection committee thanks all those who sent in designs; eight designs were received during the course of the contest. Your effort to submit the best design is much appreciated by this committee.

Also, today, I attach the official group photo of the "AGU Chapman Conference" Ethiopia (12-16 November 2012, Addis Ababa), which I was fortunate to be able to have attended. It was a really excellent conference, and this newsletter will provide more details on it in future issues -- please stay tuned for these details. Clearly, Africa is beginning to join mainstream space science, and this conference is proof of it.

I should add that several space weather and space science schools in Africa are scheduled for next year. The ISWI Newsletter will carry complete details on them in future issues.

Happy Holidays,
George Maeda
