ISWI Newsletter - Vol.3 No.96 31 October 2011
Dear ISWI Participant:
Attached is a 3-page report by Dr Hans J. Haubold and Dr Sharafat Gadimova
of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs in Vienna, Austria.
The full title is: "Progress in basic space science education and
research: The UNBSSI". I think it is required reading for any of the young
researchers just coming on board with ISWI. This report indicates
where we have come, where we are today, and says a wee bit about where
we want to go in the years ahead.
Section 3 "ISWI" is especially relevant to all those receiving this
newsletter. ISWI is a three-year workplan authorized by UNCOPUOS in
the year 2009. ISWI is authorized for 2010-2012. Accordingly, the ISWI
community needs to start thinking about what comes next: "Post ISWI".
In any case, from what I learned at Abuja, ISWI is a growth industry.
The Year 2012 is not an end of any kind. It is a start of an even bigger
and more structured ISWI.

Faithfully yours,
