There are three items today:
The MAGDAS Projects collaborates with the "Institute of Space Physics Research and Aeronomy" in Russia. It is also known as "IKFIA" and its homepage is http://ikfia.ysn.ru/
YG Shafer (IKFIA) is a research institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It conducts basic research in the fields of:

MAGDAS/IKFIA collaboration goes back to 1991, when Prof. Yumoto worked out an agreement for joint research/observation with IKFIA.
A major milestone was achieved when six MAGDAS-9 magnetometers were installed in Yakutia, starting in the autumn of 2011, in this sequence:
For more details, please see first attached pdf (just 2 pages). This pdf was recently provided to me by IKFIA for this newsletter.
Many thanks IKFIA !
The "Working Group on the Long-Term Sustainability of Outer Space Activities" was active during the recent STSC meeting in Vienna (Feb. 2014). For one photo, and some explanation of this WG, please see the second attached pdf. The photo is courtesy of Prof. Obara of Tohoku University in Japan.
"CALLISTO status report/news letter #48" is attached as the last pdf. This ISWI instrument array continues to expand ! It is great. Here is the first paragraph from this status report:
Stan Nelson in New Mexico recently installed a Long Wavelength Antenna (LWA). One polarization of the dual polarization antenna was connected to a Callisto spectrometer. The background noise is quite clean and the system seems to be sensitive. The type III burst shown below has a Y-factor of 7.7 dB at 47.063 MHz and even 8.9 dB at 52.5 MHz. Congratulations Stan to this great achievement! This observation proves that redundancy in location and frequency range is fundamental for the e-Callisto network. Nobody else in the e-Callisto network observed this burst. It would be useful to [have] a few more stations in the American/Pacific region.
