The following is a note from Dr Hans Haubold concerning Voyager-I and investigations of the heliosheath.
========================= Start of Note ==========================
Voyager-I news right here: http://phys.org/news/2012-06-voyager-interstellar-future.html Voyager-I has reached the edge of our solar system and is recording data of the heliosheath. Voyager-I was launched in 1977 and is providing data on the heliosphere since then. Recently we analysed data (see attached) of Voyager-I to confirm the q-triplet model of non-extensive statistical mechanics as developed by Prof. Constantino Tsallis (Brazil/US) who made lasting contributions to UN/ESA/NASA/JAXA Workshops on BSS/IHY/ISWI in the past. The attached paper was developed by a group of BSS/IHY/ISWI people lead by Prof. Mathai of the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (Canada/India). Prof. Mathai contributed to the workshops since the beginning in 1991 and data analysis as shown in the attached paper continues based on new results from Voyager-I. | |
