Global Muon Detector Network (GMDN)

The Global Muon Detector Network (GMDN) is a network of multidirectional muon telescopes distributed in four countries, covering a global range of asymptotic telescope views. The muon telescopes that compose the GMDN are installed in Nagoya (Japan), Hobart (Australia), Sao Martinho da Serra (Brazil), and Kuwait City (Kuwait).
Using GMDN data it was possible to a observe a cosmic ray precursor for the magnetic storm occurred at December 2006 (Dst Magnetwork_Africa_AMBER.gif50 nT). This precursor occurred approximately 8 hours before the storm sudden commencement (SSC).
