ISWI Space Weather School – Zambia 2023

The ISWI Space Weather School took place 26-30 September 2023 in Lusaka, Zambia, at the Grand Palace Hotel. The School was aimed at MSc and PhD students based in Africa, although participants at other early career levels may apply. The Physics Society of Zambia is the school host, with sponsors and partners including the African Geophysical Society (AGS)ISWI, University of Zambia, Copperbelt University, Nkrumah University, Mulungushi University, SCOSTEP/PRESTO, Catholic University of America, Boston College, and NASA.

Topics which may be covered include solar and terrestrial physics (e.g., heliosphere, solar wind, magnetosphere, ionosphere, thermosphere, etc.), as well as the effects of space weather on GNSS satellites and ground infrastructure.

Attendees will have the opportunity to make a short presentation on a space weather project they are working on or a topic they are interested in studying.

A limited amount of travel support was available.  We highly encouraged those seeking support to submit a presentation abstract.

Applications to attend are no longer being accepted as the attendance limit has been reached.

The School was held in conjunction with the 2023 AGS International Conference 2-4 October 2023. Additional details may be found on the conference website.
