I have been asked to circulate the following announcement. Please note the dead lines that are coming up soon.
It became clear at the 50th session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee Meeting of COPOUS (held from 11-22 February 2013) that several important programs are running under the UN umbrella in addition to ISWI. ILWS is another one.
ILWS seeks global cooperation in space instrumentation for space weather studies (http://ilwsonline.org) and this is the fifth in a series of meetings.
The purpose of this workshop is to promote the science of the connected Sun-Earth system by bringing together members of the international scientific community. The workshop will showcase the science of the hosting region (Eastern Asia). Scientific sessions will encompass all areas of the Sun-Earth system science, including observations, theory, modeling and forecast, in particular addressing the current unusual solar cycle. There will be a special emphasis on the closer integration of ground- and space-based data, and a discussion on the current and upcoming national and international projects.
Abstracts will be considered with particular emphasis on the following session topics:
Session 1: From Sun to Earth - Solar Disturbances and their effects on Space Weather
Session 2: Filling the Heliosphere - The Influence of Energetic Particles on Terrestrial Systems
Session 3: The Long Term - How Space Weather Turns into Space Climate
Session 4: ILWS Challenges and Missions
Session 5: Radar Observations
